On Sunday morning, Jamie started to get worried about where Daniel was.  She had called his house two times last night and another time just a few minutes ago.  No answer.  Jamie dialed Roxxi’s number.

“Hi!” Roxxi said when she answered, not letting the phone ring even once.

“Hey, have you heard from Daniel at all?  No one is answering at his house!” Jamie went straight to the point of her call.

“Nope, not at all.  Did you leave him a sexy message?!” Roxxi said while laughing.

“NO!”

“I was just checking, ha-ha!  I think I’ll call and leave one…OH!  I should leave Wil a special little message too!!”

“You’re insane.  Help me find my Daniel!”

“Fine.  Hmm…OH!  Try calling Wil.”

“Don’t you want to call Wil?”

“Nah, I'm kinda busy right now with homework.”

“Ok…Bye!”

“Buh-bye!”

Jamie didn’t want to call Wil.  She never calls over there.  She dialed the number anyway, in hope that he would know where Daniel was.

“Hello?” Someone picked up the phone she didn’t know.  She thought it was probably one of his brothers.

“Hi, is Wil there?”

“Hold on...” She could hear the next part even though he put the phone down “WIL!  Some chick is calling for you!”

“Hello?”

“Hey, it’s Jamie.”

“Thank god.  I was hoping it wasn’t Roxxi!”

“Yeah!  She told me that she was going to call your house and leave a ‘sexy’ message.  Anyway, have you seen Daniel?”

“Not since Thursday.  What’s going on?”

“The last time anyone saw him was yesterday afternoon.  No one is answering the phone at his house!”

“I can’t help you.  I have to go.”  Jame could hear yelling in the background.  It sounded like some kind of argument or fight was going on.

“Ok, bye.”

Wil hung up.  He was acting really weird.  He knew something he wasn’t saying.  Jamie didn’t really think much of it.

“Jamie, you need to bring the phone back down now!” Her mother shouted from downstairs.

She brought the phone back down and hung it up.

“You don’t need to be on the phone that long.”

“My boyfriend is missing, mom!  Can I go out for a walk?”

“No, you went over your phone time, you’re grounded for today.”

“I’m going anyway.”  Jamie put her shoes on as she spoke.

“No you’re not.  You know…”

Jamie didn’t hear the rest of what she was saying since she was already out the door.  She didn’t listen to her mom’s rules anymore.  She felt that her mom didn’t even care about her.  Her mother liked Sarah and tells her to break up with Daniel because he’s ‘ugly’.  She didn’t know the whole story and refused to listen because she believed Jamie was leaving good friends for Daniel.

Jamie’s mother probably thought this way since she and her mother before her were the most popular girls in their schools.  She believed that Jamie would ruin the family ‘tradition’ of getting prom queen by being associated with Daniel.

First, Jamie went over to Daniel’s house.  There was no answer at the door.  It was unlocked, so she went in.

“Hello?”

No one was there.  She turned and left.

She thought about going over to Roxxi’s, but remembered that she was busy right now anyways.  An idea struck her; since Daniel was half wolf, maybe he would be in the forest.  She headed towards the northern border of the city.
Jamie immediately noticed something was going on.  The wolves were out at the edge of the forest and seemed to be guarding something.  She had always had a bit of a fear of wolves since she was little.  They were considered to be outcasts of the town and if a child even thought about going to the forest, they would be punished.

One of them spotted Jamie as she got closer.  She talked to another one of the wolves and then motioned for Jamie to come closer.  Jamie obeyed cautiously.

“What business do you have here?  A dare from your friends perhaps?” The wolf questioned.

“I…I was looking for my boyfriend, Daniel.” Jamie stuttered.

“You cats think this is funny don’t you?  One of you come and swipe him, another ask where he is.  Ask your jerky friend with the wings who came through here to cause trouble!”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.  What happened?”

“A cat came through here who had wings and terrorized us and then grabbed Daniel and left.  You know, this isn’t funny at all!”

“I promise you, I knew nothing about this and I don’t think it’s funny.  I came here looking for Daniel since no one knew where he was or had seen him since yesterday.”

The wolf seemed to be studying Jamie from head to toe, wondering if she was trustworthy or not.  A lot of cats and dogs would come near the forest and play tricks, and then if something went wrong it would be the wolves’ fault.

“I think I can trust you with this much.  The boy who came through here was about 18 and was colored red with patches of brown stripes.”

Jamie didn’t have to think hard.  That was a perfect description of Wil.

Salvador and Owen had planned a secret meeting to discuss recent events with Floke.  Floke was actually a higher power than them, but he didn’t do much to affect the ghost community nowadays.  He was an elder who knew the history and rules of the realms and he would advise Salvador on many issues.  Most of the time Salvador didn’t listen to anything he had to say.

They actually met in the cloud area Daniel had first seen.  They laid down on the clouds and talked.

“You both know what this is leading up to, don’t you?” Floke inquired

“Not exactly.  I don’t know everything like you do!” Salvador was frustrated.

“Calm down you idiot!  You know what he’s talking about.” Owen said.

“Please, let’s do something productive for once.  I’m thinking that we should continue with the battle plan to solve this.” Floke said, trying to prevent an argument.

“OH!  Is that why Sal thinks he can meddle around with Daniel, to recruit more animals to his side?”

“I broke no rules in doing that, Daniel was already on my side my default.  Why should I wait until he’s 15?  It wastes so much training time!”

“Owen, he can do that.  Sandor, Jon, and Austin are the only ones that will probably have a problem with it.  I’m sure you’ve done some things others wouldn’t be too happy with, didn’t you?”

“No, of course not, I’m a good little boy!” Owen said, smiling.

Then, ironically, Wil came through the portal holding a terrified Daniel.  Salvador had a smug smile on his face now.

“Wil, why do you have to always spoil my fun?  How the heck did you even get up here?”

“Daniel had one of those belts.  I love to spoil your fun!  It’s what I do.”

“Or is it what your father tells you to do?!  Owen seems to let him control you.” Salvador remarked.

Owen was about to say something in his defense, but Floke cut him off.

“Why don’t we settle this in the battle arena like we always do…?” Floke pleaded.

“Violence isn’t the answer, VERBAL ABUSE IS MUCH BETTER!” Owen cut in.

“As I was saying, and as you both know or should know, you two are such crazy hooligans, each of your three heirs will go against each other and their children will go against each other when they reach 15 years of age.  I’ll plan who goes against whom by how powerful they are.  The one that wins from the 6 heirs will take over the ghost realm and the one from their children will be next no matter what side they are on.” Floke explained.
Daniel understood the system they were using, but there was one thing he didn’t know.

“Who are the six?”

“You don’t know?” Salvador sounded surprised. “That would be Mya, John, and Austin on my side and Scott, Mac, and Brianna on Owen’s.  Even though Jon and Austin aren’t your parents, you’ll be participating as though you are.” When Salvador finished, Owen gave him a confused look.  He started to speak, and then changed his mind.

“Yeah, Daniel, I’m going to kick your ass.” Wil commented.

“What makes you think that, you big show off?” Daniel taunted.

“I am the best on my side, The Prince of the Underworld.”

Daniel was freed and sent back home with his parents.  Salvador had to let everyone go under the order of Floke.  Otherwise, his side would be disqualified from the battle which would be starting on Friday and could last for many years.  They would actually wait for Daniel and others to become 15.  All battles would be one on one and would last until someone gave up.  Since everyone is a ghost, no one should die from any injury that was allowed (they can still feel physical pain).  One fight would happen every month or so.  Daniel was happy about being able to have a normal life in between these times, or so he thought.
This is Chapter 4 of my story that still has no name! It starts off with the reader learning a bit more about Jamie and her life, then goes elsewhere from there. This one is about 5 1/2 typed pages long.

Sweet. It's kinda like Mortal (or in this case Immortal) Kombat.
...cept with cats.

I'm kinda starting to understand this now. Turning out pretty exciting.
